Crittenton Family Practice board members agreed to have an outside vendor assist physician's offices in performing a HIPAA Gap Analysis Survey. MNO and Physicians Network Management were chosen to complete this task.

Our goal for this project was to conduct a survey and document each office for their HIPAA awareness, readiness, and assessment of their information technology infrastructure.

MNO's HIPAA Initiative Compliance Manager performed 15 Gap Analysis Survey's to initiate the federally mandated HIPAA Compliance Program. The Gap Analysis Survey consisted of 62 questions mapping the gaps of each individual practice. An overall report was presented at a recent Crittenton Family Practice board meeting to discuss the results.

The preliminary Gap Analysis Survey is a good way for your practice to begin the HIPAA compliance process. The submission of the one year extension model compliance plan through the CMA government website extends your compliance date to October 15, 2003.
